How to Reverse Video Search on iPhone
On iPhone, open this page in Safari, tap Upload video and choose the clip from Photos. Frames are pulled on the phone itself, so nothing is uploaded until you run a search. For a single frame, take a screenshot and use Google Lens in the Google app instead.
Example clip · 6 seconds · 10 frames, 9 kept
Method 1: from your Photos app
- Open videoreversesearch.com in Safari.
- Tap Upload video, then Photo Library, and pick the clip. Safari decodes iPhone HEVC video, so no conversion is needed.
- Tap frames to deselect black or blurry ones.
- Sign in with Google and tap Run Quick Search, or Deep Search for up to 20 frames.

Method 2: from a TikTok or YouTube link
- In the TikTok or YouTube app, tap Share, then Copy link.
- Paste it into the Paste link tab here and tap Get frame.
- We load the video’s public cover image and you search that frame.
A link gives one frame (the cover). For more frames, save the video to Photos if the app allows it, or take screenshots at different moments.
Method 3: screenshot plus Google Lens
Pause the video, take a screenshot (side button + volume up), open the Google app and tap the Lens icon, then choose the screenshot. This is free and fast for one frame; repeat for other moments.
Getting the clip into Photos
Many apps have their own save option: in TikTok it is Share, then Save video, when the creator allows downloads. A screen recording also works: start it from Control Center, play the part you need, stop it, and trim the recording in Photos before you upload it. A short, trimmed clip gives cleaner frames than a long recording.
If saving is turned off, take screenshots instead. Pause first, wait for the play controls to fade, and take the screenshot with the side button and volume up.
Clean frames on a small screen
- Turn the phone sideways for landscape videos so the frame fills the screen.
- Crop each screenshot in Photos to remove captions, buttons and black bars.
- Pick moments with faces turned to the camera, readable text or a recognisable place.
- Upload the screenshots one by one with the Screenshot tab, or the trimmed clip with Upload video.
If something does not work
A file over 1 GB is too large to open in the browser; trim it first. If frames come out black, the clip may start with a fade; untick those frames before you search. If a TikTok link returns no cover, the creator’s settings may hide it, so use a screenshot instead.
Privacy on your phone
The video is opened by Safari on the phone and is not uploaded. Only the stills you choose to search are sent, and they are deleted after matching. The tool saves nothing to your Photos library. If you use a screen recording, turn on Do Not Disturb first so notifications do not end up in the frames.
Questions
Why does my .MOV not open on my computer? iPhone records HEVC video by default. On the iPhone itself every browser uses Safari’s engine, so the file opens. On some Windows, Android and Linux browsers HEVC is not supported; open the clip on the iPhone, or upload a screenshot instead.
Is my video uploaded from my phone? No. Frames are extracted on your iPhone. Only the compressed frames you choose to search are sent, then deleted after matching.
Does it work on iPad? Yes. It works the same way in Safari on iPad, and the larger screen makes it easier to pick frames.
Do I need to install an app? No. It runs in the browser. To open it like an app, tap Share in Safari, then Add to Home Screen.
